French authorities imposed tight security at the Euro 2016 soccer final played at a stadium outside Paris on Sunday evening.
Portugal beat host France 1-0, winning its first championship. The UEFA European Championship is the continent’s biggest sports event and is held every 4 years.

6,800 police officers were deployed around the Stade de France and along public transportation routes leading to the stadium.
Police officers were also out in central Paris patting down soccer fans and checking their bags.
A French fan said such tight security is necessary following the terrorist attacks and that she feels safe.
Riot police used tear gas and water cannons to turn back soccer supporters who tried to enter an overcrowded fan zone at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The zone was set up for 90,000 fans to watch live broadcasts of the matches.
France has been in a state of emergency since a series of terrorist attacks claimed nearly 150 lives in Paris in November.
